How are businesses combining digital innovation, environmental responsibility and profitability to create successful and sustainable ventures?

While entrepreneurship education provides important theoretical knowledge, real-world examples can help learners understand how these ideas are applied in practice.

The START-DSP project has developed a collection of 23 business case studies, showcasing enterprises that demonstrate different approaches to digital, sustainable and commercially viable entrepreneurship.

Learning from Real Businesses

The case studies explore businesses and social enterprises operating across a range of sectors, including food, fashion, mobility, energy, electronics, packaging and the circular economy.

Each example offers an opportunity to consider how entrepreneurial ideas can respond to practical challenges while creating economic, environmental or social value.

From reducing waste and improving resource efficiency to using technology to develop new services, the collection highlights the diverse ways entrepreneurs are responding to changing business and societal needs.

Bringing Entrepreneurship into the Classroom

For educators, the case studies provide useful examples that can support classroom discussions, group activities, assignments and critical reflection.

Students can explore different business approaches, consider the challenges entrepreneurs face and reflect on how digital and sustainable practices might be applied to their own ideas.

The collection is also valuable for aspiring entrepreneurs interested in learning from existing businesses and identifying approaches that could inform their own ventures.

By connecting entrepreneurship education with real experiences, START-DSP helps learners see how sustainability, digital innovation and profitability can work together in practice.
